Circuit Racing
Mid Shropshire Wheelers are proud to call the 1km floodlit road circuit at Shrewsbury Sports Village their home. With this facility we are able to organise circuit races for all ages and genders.
Regularly from March through to August the club host a Mid Week Thursday Race and a Sunday Race for various categories see the calendar for full details.
To ride circuit races you will need a British Cycling Race Licence or you can obtain a Day Licence on the day at extra cost when signing on. Age categories are taken from the riders age on January 1st and remain for the whole year. Age categories are in two year blocks from under 6 up to under 16. From the Junior category 16 – 18 years and above age categories become secondary and a ability category takes over.
There are a lot of opportunities to take part in other circuit races locally at Stourport, Lichfield, Solihull and Marsh Tracks at Rhyl.
Additionally a number of Mids riders take part in road races. Locally there are:
- South Staffordshire & Shropshire Cycling Clubs Road Racing League (SSCCRRL) have handicapped races most Thursdays from May to July
- West Midlands Road Race League
